Big Island

Hilo was relaxing as always. Tai met his Big Island relatives for the first time and he really enjoyed himself.

Our host, Auntie Margie, prepares the sashimi for Friday's "reunion" dinner. We don't really call it a reunion, but a lot of relatives who haven't seen each other in years do gather.

At 88, Auntie Yuri demonstrates her strength by holding a 26-pound Tai.

The next day, while Tai watched Jordan's soccer game, Thu and I took a hike on the Kilauea Iki Trail and walked on the volcano's crater floor.

Later we met Jordan and Joyce and others at Liliuokalani Park in Hilo for a picnic dinner.

Jordan had a good time leading Tai around the many fields and rocks at the park. Tai was happy to copy everything Jordan did and go everywhere he went.

On Sunday, Timothy was feeling better and he joined in on the fun.

Jordan and Tai hanging out at the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, the only natural tropical rainforest zoo in the U.S. Here they are taking a snack break.
