Daycare/Preschool/December Recap

Where does the time go by? As fast as Tai is running these days, I suppose.

We haven't updated the blog in awhile. And there's tons of holiday stuff from last month that needs to be posted. So here's a recap.

We can't forget about Tai's daycare holiday party. We haven't written about daycare for a long time, and certainly not about the drama that surrounded Tai leaving his former daycare last spring. But enough time has passed. It's safe to write about the subject again. To make a long story short, within days of leaving the old one, we luckily found another one on Craigslist. And it's been Tai's favorite place, ever since.

The daycare is located between our condo and our work, which is very convenient. It's run by a husband and wife from Brazil (so Tai occasionally picks up words in a third language, Portuguese). And they take care of the kids so well. Like I said, Tai loves it there.

Nowadays, at every morning dropoff, Tai usually knocks on the door and runs in to play with Oliver and Neto. And before she left for preschool, would get a hug from Maeve.

The only sad part of the party was saying goodbye to Maeve.

The party itself was great. We munched on Brazilian snacks and watched the kids play. It's so wonderful to think that the main goal of every day for the kids is to play. What a life!

This reminds me that last weekend, Thu and I dived into the preschool hunt for Tai. We made our first preschool visit on Friday, then I attended the East Bay preschool fair on Saturday. Getting into a preschool in the Berkeley area feels like scouting out colleges, with eager parents each seeking a leg up on the competition.

We've got another 9-12 months, at least, before Tai moves on. The very thought of it is at once exciting and slightly daunting. But for now, Tai has his cozy and nurturing daycare. He can enjoy it for all its worth.

The rest of December:

When the nights were cold, we lit the logs and read books, drank milk, and ate s'mores by the fireplace.

What a goofball! Tai getting in Mia's way.

The gift is assembled. Yeah!
